The Marcomar Apartments are on the Marcolina estate, north of Alcossebre, in the province of Castellón. They make a great base for a family holiday because they combine three things families value: a children's pool in the building itself, a town beach with lifeguards 1.3 km away and the Serra d'Irta, a natural park with a lighthouse, coves and easy paths, right next door.
An apartment designed for families
Marcomar has 1-bedroom apartments (up to 4 people), 2-bedroom (up to 6) and 3-bedroom (up to 8), so there's room for anything from a couple with a baby to two families together, or grandparents, parents and grandchildren. Depending on the apartment, the views are of the sea or the hills. The building has paid covered parking.
The complex has two pools, one for adults and one for children, usually open from Easter to mid-November. For little ones, being able to swim without leaving home during the sunniest hours is a real relief. You'll find all the details in Marcomar for families.

Alcossebre with kids: things to do near Marcomar
Alcossebre is a quiet town with more than 10 km of coastline and a very family-friendly feel. These are the ideas that work best with children from Marcomar:
- Beaches with lifeguards. For swimming with little ones, head to the town beaches: Les Fonts (Las Fuentes), the nearest, with lifeguards and a children's area; the Carregador, the central beach, with its seafront promenade; and the Romana, linked by a wooden boardwalk. We compare them in beaches and playgrounds in Alcossebre.
- Fresh water on the beach. At Les Fonts beach, fresh water bubbles up through the sand from old springs. Children love hunting for it.
- A trip to the lighthouse and the coves. A walk at the southern entrance to the Serra d'Irta, by the lighthouse and Cala Blanca, is an adventure for any child. We explain which coves and trails are sensible with kids in Serra d'Irta coves with kids.
- Playgrounds. The town council marks the municipality's playgrounds on an official map; we tell you how to find it.
- An afternoon on the slides. If you fancy a water park, there's Aquarama in Benicàssim, about 35 km away (around 35 minutes by car).

Serra d'Irta coves with kids: what you need to know
The Serra d'Irta begins where Alcossebre ends, at the lighthouse and Cala Blanca. Its coves are beautiful, but bear in mind that they have no lifeguards or facilities, and some have tricky access over rocks. So we recommend:
- Swimming with the children at the town beaches with lifeguards.
- Saving the coves for walks, paddling and picnics, choosing those with the easiest access.
- Doing only short stretches of the low-difficulty trails.
If you enjoy walking and want to go further, the complete guide to the Serra d'Irta explains the park, its towers and its castles.
When to come with children
- July and August: everything's open and the sea is around 25 °C, but it's busier. Book early.
- Easter, June and September: the pool is already open, the beaches are quieter and the heat is more bearable for walks.
- Autumn: ideal for short walks in the hills with children, with mild temperatures.
